Panasonic re-commits to Micro Four Thirds with high-end GH6 and 25-50mm F1.7 lens – Amateur Photographer

To re-affirm its commitment to the Micro Four Thirds system, Panasonic has announced that it’s in the process of developing two high-end products. Firstly, the Lumix GH6 will be an advanced video-focused model positioned above the GH5 II in the range, with a new image sensor and processing engine. The firm is promising unlimited DCI 4K recording  with 4:2:2 1-bit colour, along with 10-bit 5.7K 60p video. This implies that the new sensor will require a resolution of at least 24MP, which is higher than any existing MFT model. The GH6 is expected to be released before the end of 2021.

Along with the GH6, a Leica DG 25-50mm F1.7 premium short-telephoto zoom is on its way

Second on the development list is a premium Leica DG 25-50mm F1.7 short-telephoto zoom. With its 50-100mm equivalent range and fast maximum aperture, this is designed to complement the firm’s existing 10-25mm f/1.7, with the same external design and control layout. It will therefore sport a physical aperture ring in front of the manual focus and zoom controls. But as yet, there’s no word on when the lens will be released.
